History Continued

Overcrowding at venues, transport and lack of helpers curtailed referrals during most of this period until a fourth venue was opened in November and extensive public relations was done to recruit transport drivers and more volunteers.

In 1983, C.A.T.A. was meeting at three different venues and the need was recognised for full time staff.  C.E.P. funding made it possible for the group to employ a Co-ordinator and a Driver/Assistant. Also, in 1983, circulation of the newsletter reached 125 copies.

In 1984, C.A.T.A. was granted Incorporated status. With the considerable help of local Members of Parliament and with the support of the Wanneroo Council, full funding for the two staff members was granted by the Home And Community Care (H.A.C.C.) Program in 1985.

This funding has now been increased to cover the salaries of eight permanent staff (six full-time, two part-time) in recognition of the growth in numbers which now total approximately 100 regularly attending at Warwick Community Services Centre, on five (Monday to Friday) days per week.
