CEO Update: My Way Update, Staff Changes and our SGM

My Way services were delivered for the first time by CATA this week. Calvin, one of our artists delivered a 3 hour art activity event in Medina aimed at giving people interested in CATA’s services an opportunity to sample different types of art practice. People who attended the event completed the first stage of a pottery project and explored how wood burning may be used to create art. Feedback from participants was very positive. One of the participants for example said, ‘I could do this all day.’ and intends to modify his My Way plan to allow him to become a regular participant. CATA has scheduled another activity event in Medina for February and is planning on delivering similar outreach services to people in the Hills district in the next few weeks.

One of our Managers, Suzanne, has recently left CATA to take up an opportunity to work as a Local Area Coordinator for the Disability Services Commission. We wish Suzanne every success with her new position. This change has resulted in some other staffing movements at CATA. Laura for example, our Administration Manager, has now also taken on Suzanne’s previous duties as Client Services Manager. To help reduce some of Laura’s new workload, Joanne has added volunteer coordinator duties to her role. Further changes in staffing are likely to occur soon and I’ll let you know about this once they happen.

Finally, a reminder for members that a Special General Meeting is scheduled for 11.00 am Thursday 4th February 2015 here at CATA. This meeting has been called to decide whether or not to wind up our organisation and amalgamate with RISE. All CATA members are invited to attend this very important meeting.

This month I’ve included a picture of one of our My Way participants that attended CATA’s outreach service in Medina.
